5 Steps to Successful LinkedIn SEO
The result of a well-executed LinkedIn SEO is a higher position in the ranking of search results, in searches within LinkedIn. It may also affect your appearance in Google and Bing search results.
Each LinkedIn member sees search results configured specifically for them, based on their LinkedIn networks (connections), as well as what LinkedIn calls “searcher relevance”. When we analyzed LinkedIn search results, we concluded that job seekers can successfully optimize their profile by focusing on these 10 specific areas:
1. Find and use the best keywords for you, such as job titles and technical qualifications.
Use these keywords in many different areas of your profile, such as your professional headline, work experience (job titles and job description), skills, and profile summary.
• Add the appropriate degrees and other certificates that you earned before your last name, for example:
Mary Jane Smith, MBA
Edward M. Smith, MBA, PMP
Elizabeth E. Smith, JD, CPA
Your LinkedIn profile will be higher in Google search results, when these conditions (as you like) are added to your LinkedIn name, and MANY recruiters search for LinkedIn profiles using Google. Very powerful!
• Most people stop at dates and positions, especially at work in the past. This is a great opportunity to promote your experience and, naturally, add important keywords to your profiles. Describe all the tasks that you list on LinkedIn, highlighting the experience and achievements that match your current career goals and personal brand.
• Describe these former employers, as well as another excellent source of keywords! If the company was small, explain what the organization do. If the employer is large and well-known, describe the section or part of the organization in which you worked.
If you have target employers, review their job descriptions for the required job, in particular the job titles they use, as well as the skills, certificates and other terms used consistently for the roles you want.
Suppose you are working as a retailer’s marketing materials manager, select the appropriate keywords for the person’s Professional title (provided everything is correct):
Experienced Marketing Specialist (the only key word is “marketing”)
A data science-oriented marketing content manager has been used to increase website traffic and sales; forecasting, segmentation and growth of Twitter subscribers (MANY keywords in this title, job description and a clear understanding of skills)
Do not use the same keywords. It looks desperate, dumb and not working. Include keywords in your profile content (another reason to get a reliable profile).
2. Carefully select the appropriate skills and get approval for them.
Inside the LinkedIn Recruiter (service recruiters pay LinkedIn for use). Skills are the main search option, often the first criteria that a recruiter chooses. Often ignored by LinkedIn members as trivial, the Skills and Endorsements section is in fact a very important part of your profile because
LinkedIn recommends that participants have at least 5 skills out of a maximum of 50.
Members with 5 or more skills are brought up to 33 times more often with the help of recruiters ”
Choose the best LinkedIn skills for you and your career, and get confirmations to prove you have them. Only your connections on the first level can approve you.

3. Have a reliable, complete and focused profile.
Complete all sections of the profile as much as you can. Do not save on descriptions of ALL your workplaces and your employers (for the last 15-20 years), your quantitative achievements in these works, projects and education and training.
If you want your profile to be found high in search results, where a recruiter is more likely to click on your name, you need a reliable profile, with the exception of the All Star minimum. Focus your profile on the next task, as far as possible, so that it contains the keywords you need. Without relevant keywords, it will not be found.

4. Be well connected.
If the recruiter does not pay for using LinkedIn Recruiter or does not perform a username search, LinkedIn search results include only people who are connected to the search appliance as first, second, and third degree connections within LinkedIn.
Therefore, the more connections you have, the more likely it is that you will be in the search results of someone, even if it is a third-degree connection. Search results are not sorted by degree of connection, so a connection to the third degree can be the top entry in the search results.
Obviously, if you have a limited number of connections, your LinkedIn visibility is extremely limited.
5. Turn on your current (or target) location.
The site is one of the most important and frequently used search criteria for recruiters looking for qualified candidates, inside and outside LinkedIn. Employers usually want someone to be local so that the person can easily interview, get started quickly and avoid the cost of moving.
Not surprisingly, location is also the main search criteria for LinkedIn Recruiter. The Location field in your LinkedIn profile is one of the key elements used to determine whether you should be included in the list of people’s search results.
You can use the country as your official location, but it is a very general location, which means that your profile will probably be invisible (NO keywords!).

A better idea is to enter your (current or target) zip code or zip code, which LinkedIn usually translates to a specific city (from a zip code or zip code) or to a general region (for example, the Big Boston area). You can protect your privacy by providing LinkedIn a very valuable element in your search algorithm.
If your goal is to move, my recommendation is to use a zip code for your target location. LinkedIn will accept this and you will be visible in LinkedIn search results for this area.
